Getting started with Managed WordPress / WooCommerce

Follow this guide to get started with Managed WordPress or WooCommerce.

Step 1: First-time setup

Before you can get started, you’ll have to set up your WordPress via the controlpanel. You’ll have to give your website a name, choose a login etc. It’s pretty straight forward.

To start the first-time setup, go to “My Products” > “Web hosting” > and click on “Manage hosting” next to your domain name.

Step 2: Access your website

After this setup your WordPress website and hosting is ready to use.

To access your website, follow these steps in the controlpanel

  1. Go to “My Products” > Web hosting” > and click on “Manage hosting” next to your domain name.
  2. Click on “Log in to your website” in the upper right corner. It will take you to the backend of your WordPress website.

Access your database
To access your database, click on “phpMyAdmin” further down the page

Step 3: Access your files via FTP

If you access your Managed WordPress via FTP, you can review and edit both the frontend and backend. You’ll have to create an FTP user first.

Step 4: Create a test environment

Having a test environment is a very helpful tool. It gives you the option to test changes you want to introduce to your website, without impact on your live website. Try a new WordPress theme or plugin for example without risking that your visitors seeing it.

With Managed WordPress you can create such a test environment with the click of a button.

To create a test environment, follow these steps in the controlpanel

  1. Go to “My Products” > Web hosting” > and click on “Manage hosting” next to your domain name.
  2. Click on “Test environments” in the menu on the left
  3. Now click on “Add a test environment” in the upper right corner. It will take you to the setup.
