Bulk Discount Pricing

It is possible to offer tiered pricing for each product based on quantity tiers. For example, a t-shirt costs $24.99, but if you buy 3 items, the price will be dropped to $20.99 each instead. It is a helpful tool for merchants who have a lot of products in stock and want to attract customers to buy more items. Discount prices are shown on the product details in the store and discounts are applied immediately as soon as the quantity added to the cart changes.

This feature also includes an algorithm which suggests users to add more items to get higher discounts. You add some items to a cart and eventually, a message appears informing you that there is a chance to save some money by adding more items. Such suggestions are smart. If you have 1 item in the cart, ShopBuilder will not offer to add 10 more just to get a 3% discount. However if you already have 8 items in a bag, then the suggestion to add 2 items more and save, will pop up. Otherwise, if a discount is huge, the suggestion will appear at the early stages: “add 7 more and get 80% off!”.

The goal is to show these messages at key moments when the chances that customers will like the discount and add more items are the highest. This feature can encourage your customers to purchase more items from your store.

Bulk pricing options are available in the Professional ShopBuilder.

Set Bulk Discount Pricing

To access the bulk pricing settings:

  1. In the left panel, click eCommerce, and then click Manage Store.
  2. Click Catalog, and then click Products.
  3. Next to the product you want to add bulk discount pricing, click Edit Product.
  4. Click the down arrow next to the Price, and configure the Bulk discount pricing.
  5. Click Save.

If you use option in your products, the combinations may have a separate price and separate wholesale pricing, so the different combinations will not result in the volume discount (but a few items of one combination will).
